Aftercare
01.
Bandage
Leave bandage on for the reccomended amount of time - typically 3-5 days.
You may shower normally, but use caution to avoid soaking your fresh tattoo/bandage in baths, spas, saunas, and other bodies of water to avoid infection.
Removing
Bandage
Remove bandage gently, typically following a shower to minimize irritation.
Troubleshooting
If there is sticky residue, you have a few options:
• Leave it be and follow the aftercare, trust that the residue will wash away within a few days.
• Gentle massage clean coconut or jojoba oil to help loosen the residue, then follow steps 2 and 3 and continue aftercare.
• use a q-tip with a bit of rubbing alcohol on the residue edge only–avoid touching your tattoo with alcohol!
02.
Cleanse
Use a gentle fragrance-free cleanser to wash your tattoo, then rinse. Avoid spraying your tattoo with water, and use clean hands to handle your fresh tattoo.
Reccomended products:
• Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
• Dr. Bronners Pure Unscented
• CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser
• Dial Fragrance Free- Antibacterial & Sensitive (available online only)
Note
Please avoid anything "exfoliating" and/or "brightening"!
03.
Moisturize
After patting dry with a clean paper towel, apply a gentle fragrance-free and petroleum-free moisturizer or lotion product to your tattoo.
Reccomended products:
• CeraVe Moisturizing Cream
• Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Lotion
• Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion
• Natural Tattoo Salve by Mamita Medicinals (Available at the shop for $20!)
• Other Fragrance-Free Tattoo Balms such as from Mad Rabbit, Badger, Ora's, People of Substance, etc.
• Natural Shea Butter, clean Coconut Oil, jojoba oil is OK
Note
Please avoid petroleum products, as they are occlusives and can trap bacteria and perpetuate dryness.
04.
Repeat
Repeat steps 2 and 3 twice a day for about 2 weeks after bandage removal, and once a week for another 2 weeks. Apply moisturizer as needed and be mindful about your surroundings and cleanliness. Keep your tattoo out of sunlight and use SPF once healed, but not during the healing process as many sunscreens are too chemically harsh on healing skin/tattoos for the first 4 weeks.
